Invest Northern Ireland has announced that it will entertain applications for a small number of Proof of Concept projects in autumn 2010. The Proof of Concept programme supports the pre-commercialisation of leading-edge technologies emerging from Northern Ireland’s research organisations. The financial assistance provided by the programme helps researchers to export their ideas and inventions from the laboratory to the global marketplace.

Key points:

  • Up to £100,000 is available for technology development and commercialisation in a fifteen month project.
  • The Proof of Concept programme is available to academics at Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Ulster, Agri-Food and Bioscience Institute and Health and Social Care Trusts.
  • Applications must be submitted in conjunction with the technology transfer office. For the HSC trusts, you must submit through HSC Innovations.

The deadline for applications is 11th November 2010. Offers of funding are anticipated in December 2010. Contact HSC Innovations as soon as possible if you are considering submitting an application.

Further information, including guidelines and the application form are available on the Invest NI website here. (Ignore the out of date text that says the programme is currently closed!)
