Belfast Health and Social Caree Trust licensee HiberGene Diagnostics Ltd has raised €2m. The company will use this round of funding to support the commercialisation of its first two rapid molecular tests for Meningococcal Meningitis and Group B Streptococcus, which were developed at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and which it has licenced from Belfast HSC Trust.

Belfast Trust Licenses Rapid Group B Streptococcus Diagnostic

Belfast Health and Social Care Trust has licensed its rapid molecular diagnostic for Group B streptococcus to HiberGene Diagnostics Ltd. The Group B streptococcus assay is 100% sensitive and 93% specific when compared to direct culture.

Bilingual Assessment Materials for Speech and Language Developed by Belfast Trust

Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and Black Sheep Press have recently signed a licence agreement in relation to new bilingual assessment materials, FLAC (Functional Language Across Countries). FLAC is a collection of materials developed by speech and language therapists in the Belfast Trust to assess the early language skills of bilingual and non-English-speaking children.

Experior Medical Shares App Revenue with Belfast Trust

Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and Experior Medical Ltd have recently signed a revenue sharing agreement in relation to a new medical training app clinical software tool, Experior Medical. Medical consultants in Belfast teamed up with IT specialists to develop a mobile training app that helps medics develop their skills, leading to more accurate diagnosis and better patient care.

South Eastern HSC Trust Launches Quality Improvement Innovation Centre

The new Quality Improvement Innovation Centre (QIIC) at the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust has been officially opened by Health Minister Edwin Poots. As well as providing leading edge technology and meeting space for staff, the centre will bring together expertise from across the organisation to support improvement activity which will, in turn, have a positive impact on patient and client care.

Health Minister Launches Two Northern Trust Software Systems

Health Minister Edwin Poots has launched two new hospital IT systems which will significantly improve patients’ health and save lives through the appropriate use of medications, including antibiotics. Developed by the Pharmacy and Medicines Management Department in the Northern Trust, the two systems are the Live Automated Microbiology Pharmacy Surveillance System (LAMPS) and the Electronic Medicines Reconciliation System (EMRS).
