The US-Ireland R&D Partnership has announced an extension to its support for strategic collaborative research. The tri-national programme links scientists and engineers in partnerships across academia and industry.

The programme will address crucial research questions; foster new and existing industrial research activity that could make an important contribution to the respective economies; and expand educational and research career opportunities in science & engineering.

The following themes are prioritised:

  • Diabetes
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Nanotechnology
  • Sensors
  • Telecommunications (new)
  • Energy & Sustainability (new)

Northern Ireland applications under the themes of diabetes or cystic fibrosis should be submitted to the HSC R&D Division (PHA). Other applications should be submitted to the Department for Employment and Learning or Invest Northern Ireland.
